Here’s our favorite 23 minute podcast on how to get started - https://www.thinkingnutrition.com.au/podcast/

The Methods

  • The 16/8 method: Also called the Leangains protocol, it involves skipping breakfast and restricting your daily eating period to 8 hours, such as 1–9 p.m. Then you fast for 16 hours in between.

  • Eat-Stop-Eat: This involves fasting for 24 hours, once or twice a week, for example by not eating from dinner one day until dinner the next day.

  • The 5:2 diet: With this method, you consume only 500–600 calories on two non-consecutive days of the week, but eat normally the other 5 days.

Pro Tips

  • Drink plenty of black coffee, tea, and water within your fasting hours #yup #blackcoffeefolks

  • Don’t overeat during your 8 hour window

  • Continued a varied diet - eat your veggies, fruits, and everything else in moderation (that includes booze)

  • If you’re hungry or show signs of low blood glucose (headache’s, faintness, shakiness, sweats, etc.), extend your hours from 8 - 10 (12 hours max for best results)

  • If you’re noticing a consistent challenge with hunger, adjust your hours & try eating before working out.

*if you have any underlying conditions, please consult with your PCP prior to beginning your fasting journey*
